cheered and clapped. Roddick’s camp, on the other hand, dejectedly sat
down and backwards in their seats and let out a little grunt-like sigh. Roddick
eventually went on to win the game.

If you’re cuddling with your honey and want to let him or her know just how
much you’re enjoying the experience, make a gentle purr or sigh as you snug-
gle in closer.

Alex was being groomed for partnership at a large city law firm. Although con-
sidered to be a bright and capable lawyer, Alex had some unresolved anger
issues relating towards his hot-tempered, domineering mother. During a prac-
tice role play for his interview, I purposely interrupted him while he was answer-
ing a question I’d posed. Angry with the interruption and without thought he
rose from his seat and clenched his fists while his facial muscles pulled his lips
to a tight thin line (see Figure 7-3). I had no doubt in my mind that Alex didn’t
like being interrupted. We looked at his actions and decided together that alter-
native behaviour choices would have worked more to his favour.
