MSI is a fairly new name in the
world of monitors, making this
victory all the more impressive.
The MPG Artymis 34 3CQR is a feat
of engineering brilliance.
With an impeccable 100 0R
curve radius, the VA panel pumps
out an impressive 165 Hz of punchy
goodness. A traditional 34 40x1 440
resolution treats you to a neat
109ppi density. Combined with its
exceptional HDR performance,
and some impressive latency and
response rates, those ghosting
and other VA typical bugs are a
thing of the past.
This king of ultrawide screens
puts some of its pricier rivals to
shame. It’s not quite a budget item,
though, costing just shy of $900.

MONITOR WINNER
MSI MPG ARTYMIS 343 CQR
In a slight twist on the usual monitor take, our
second favorite screen of the past year is none
other than LG’s UltraGear Ergo 2 7GN880-B.
This neat little panel sits on top of a
stand, meaning you have to clamp it to your
desk. However, disposing of the usual stand
arrangement has given LG the opportunity to
include a more versatile mounting solution,
with greater pitch and angles possible.
This Nano IPS screen is aimed at color
artists and professionals, thanks to its
impressive color accuracy and 98 percent
DCI-P3 coverage. It is equally capable of
gaming as well, with an impressive 144 Hz
refresh rate, 1 ms G2G response, and
FreeSync and G-Sync support as standard.
The only downsides, particularly for
the creative worker, are a lack of USB-C
connectivity and limited color space presets.
