ANKLE
1 With size 3 needles and double strand of A, CO 27 (30, 33, 36) sts.
2 Work in garter stitch (knit every row) for 10 rows.
3 Work eyelet row: K3 (4, 4, 3), yo, k2tog, k3 (3, 4, 5), yo, k2tog, k8 (8, 10, 12),
yo, k2tog, k3 (3, 4, 5), yo, k2tog, k2 (4, 3, 3).
4 Knit 3 rows. Cut yarn.
INSTEP
1 Slip first 9 (10, 11, 12) sts onto holder; join new double strand of yarn and k
across next 9 (10, 11, 12) sts; slip last 9 (10, 11, 12) sts onto second holder.
2 Continuing on center 9 (10, 11, 12) instep sts only, beg from here with a purl
row, work in St st (knit every row) until instep measures 2 (2^1 ⁄ 4 , 2^1 ⁄ 2 , 2^3 ⁄ 4 ) inches
from beg of St st—approx 17 (19, 21, 23) rows, ending with a WS row. Cut yarn.
3 Slip 9 (10, 11, 12) sts from first holder to same needle as instep sts. Join double strand of yarn and k across these 9 (10, 11, 12) sts;
then pick up and k10 (11, 12, 13) sts along side edge of instep (with RS facing); k across the 9 (10, 11, 12) instep sts; pick up and
k10 (11, 12, 13) sts along other side of instep (with RS facing), and then slip the rem 9 (10, 11, 12) sts from the second holder to the
left needle and k to end—47 (52, 57, 62) sts.
4 Knit 11 (11, 13, 13) rows. Cut yarn.
SOLE
1 Next row (RS): Slip first 19 (21, 23, 25) sts from left needle to right needle.
Join double strand of yarn and k9 (10, 11, 12) sts from left needle; turn.
2 Next row: K8 (9, 10, 11), k2tog tbl; turn.
3 Next row: K8 (9, 10, 11), k2tog; turn.
4 Rep last 2 rows (steps 2 and 3) until only the center 9 (10, 11, 12) sts rem.
5 Next row: k2tog; k2tog, pass first st on right needle over second st on
right needle and off; rep from , k2tog and BO as you go, until 1 st rem.
Cut yarn, leaving a long enough tail to sew back seam; pull tail through
last st and secure.
