FINISHING THE RECEIVER AND BARREL

Now, wipe off all of the sawdust from the receiver and barrel and then wipe on a thin film of oil over the
entire surface. Place the barrel action carefully into the stock and tapping it lightly on the receiver so that
it will leave a mark on the wood were you'll have to remove a little extra wood. Now remove the barrel
action and the coated steel has mark the wood you then use the chisels to clear the wood away with
very light shavings. The recoil shoulder has probably already bottomed out on the receiver and the stock
and has a slight recess cut for it. The recoil shoulder has to be fitted very closely or the stock may split.
Anymore when the stock is fitted closely it is usually finished up with a glass-bedding compound. Glass
bedding will give you a perfect fit of the action and barrel.

MPORTANT--if you are going to glass bed the barrel action to the stock be sure to have everything
coated with the release agent that comes with the glass-bedding compound. If you leave one part of the
receiver uncoated you may possibly glue the action into the stock. If that happens it is almost impossible
to remove the action without destroying the stock.

The instructions for glass bedding will be in the box. Follow it word for word.

This completes the inletting of the stock. The outside shape of the stock is removed mostly with wood
rasps both fine and course. This takes quite a bit of time to shape up the outside of the stock the way
you want it. Don't get in a hurry, take your time.
