Dovere, potere, volere
12 The present perfect of dovere, potere and volere is normally formed with
the auxiliary avere, but when they are followed by a verb which forms the
present perfect with essere, they may take essere as well; if essere is used, the
past participle of the verb agrees with the subject:
Remember that it is never wrong to use avere:
