"Festivalisthelastofaseriesoffourpictures.Theyallexpressmyinterestand
delightinprimitivepictographs.IwashappywhenIpaintedthesepictures.They
cameoffmoreeasilythanmany,andIthinkFestivalevokesajoyousspirit.After
completingthepaintings,somehowthefiguresinthemrecalledEnglishcountry
peopleofChaucer'stime.Iseeaparadeofthesepeopleinsomekindoffar-off
landscape.OthersmaynotberemindedofChauceratall.Thatislessimportant
thanthesensethatsomethinghappyishappening.
