My dear Neill:

I have your letter of September 15th. I suggest that we dis
continue our discussion on political matters. It leads nowhere. Instead,
I propose that we stick to our work-democratic line which, applied to
this special case, would mean the following:
We are standing outside politics, working at the problem of the
children of the future, and we do not drag in any political questions.
There would be only one request and that is to acknowledge the exist
ence of this or that killer of freedom, development of thought, seIf
regulation in childhood, genitality, functional thinking, etc.; whether it
be an American, Russian, Hottentot or some other kind of killer. Please
let me know whether you can proceed on this basis. I never believed that
political discussions could help along in actual work.
In regard to Orgonon, it is interesting that after the cancer course
and the convention, 8 workers in our field have decided to stay up here
in the Rangeley region to help build up the university. During the
winter, Ilse and Peter live with me in the Observatory. Among the 8
workers there are six who are paid by the research fund, and can live
on their income. I have given up my New York practice completely. I
had finally to break away from the old ways and devote myself entirely
to orgonomy, physical and astrophysical research. This meant a sacrifice
of a yearly income of around $40,000. So I did not go capitalist and
reactionary completely yet, Neill. I am not earning any money at
present. Neither did I sell the Forest Hills house. I put it at the disposal
of some of our physicians who have established clinics for treatment
and diagnosis in the various rooms. I do not derive any income from
Forest Hills.
Another question: Would you object if I use some of the material
which came up in the course of the disagreement between us in political
