duration—an ability that has contributed enormously to the sound quality of the
CD player by comparison with the vinyl disc.
From the point of view of the CD manufacturer, it is convenient that the complete CIRC
replay error correction and concealment package is available from several IC suppliers
as part of a single large-scale integrated chip. From the point of view of the serious CD
user, it is preferable that the error correction system has to do no more work than it must,
