The concept is simple: Use the three elements to describe the
overall effect that the scalp-to-sole elements present when they
come together.
For example, energy is low or high. Direction answers the ques-
tion: Are all of the arrows lined up? Is the person paying sharp
attention to a person, place, or thing with all outward expression
and the senses? Is all of that energy sharply directed at one target
or scattered among several preoccupying factors?
Focus is either internal or external. It could be sharp or scat-
tered relative to something apparent to the outside world, or the
focus—sharp or scattered—could be on something inside his head.
The following table provides a sampling of moods or emotions
and a profile of them according to energy, direction, and focus.
