  2. This may refer to the realm of eight (ogdoad) in Valentinian thought. The realm of eight re-
    calls the seven planetary spheres, plus the eighth sphere (of the stars) beyond these cosmic
    powers. The eighth sphere is sometimes thought to be the abode of the ruler of the cosmos and
    at other times is considered a higher level for spiritual advancement and perfection. See the Se-
    cret Book of John and the Hermetic Discourse on the Eighth and Ninth.
    5. The twelfth number recalls the twelve signs of the zodiac.
