The first Associated
Press high schools boys
basketball poll was recently
released, with Marshall
boys basketball checking in
at No. 8 in Division 2.
When the poll was
released, the Redhawks’
record sat at 7-1, with their
lone loss coming to the
Pennfield Panthers on Jan.
11 after winning their first
six contests of the season.
The Redhawks bounced
back to beat Lumen Christi
on Jan. 14 after the four-
point loss to the Panthers.
Marshall boys basketball ranked No. 8 in
first AP state rankings; Olivet receives votes
Pennfield is ranked one
spot ahead of Marshall at
No. 7, while the Panthers
did suffer their first defeat
of the season on Jan. 14 at
Harper Creek after winning
their first seven games.
Also in Division
2, Olivet’s varsity boys
basketball team received
votes from media members
in the poll. At the time the
poll was released, the Eagles
had a perfect 8-0 record on
the season.

The Marshall boys
basketball team defeated
the Western Panthers in an
Interstate 8 matchup by a
score of 72-57 on Jan. 18.
Nate Tucker had a huge
game for the Redhawks,
scoring 32 points and
grabbing 10 rebounds in the
double-double effort.
Nauvion Burnett added
13 points while Alex Costa
scored 11. Josh Pugh chipped
in with six points and five
assists in the win.
The Redhawks host
Northwest on Jan. 21 for
another in-conference battle,
with the game tipping off at
7 p.m.
