Keep humility in play. Realize that no matter how excellent you become
in your business, there will always be someone more successful from
whom you might learn a thing or two. Keep an open mind and learn
from other people mistakes and experiences. No one has to reinvent the
wheel. This is not to say that one should not implement new ideas; on
the contrary, new ideas can improve any business. You do not have to
be the one to invent every new idea; borrowing an idea or two or learn-
ing what not to do from others’ experiences can be both beneficial and
time-saving.

Never move a client into a bad position because it pays more money.
For example, an investment that might make your company more mon-
ey is not a good investment if it puts your client in a bad position. No
one desires to be taken advantage of and fewer still would refer business
to a company that took advantage of them. While it might be tempting
to rush to open an account when the potential client demands it done
hurriedly and before a relationship is established, remind them that your
company builds relationships first. In a relationship-driven business
where trust is important, think about how you wish to be treated if you
were the customer.

The more one gives, the more one receives in return. Make anonymous
donations when possible. Try every day to help someone and expect
nothing in return. The person who regularly gives becomes a magnet
to people because we gravitate toward people who care. People want to
feel good. Be the giving spirit who energizes people, not the person who
is a vacuum and sucks the energy out of the room. The simple gesture
