Building relationships and creating emotional connections create an
environment and build a platform for your voice to be heard. Eventu-
ally, you may have a career or have built a business to show for all the
relationships you have created.


Building relationships is like streaming a group of connections together
in what may seem to you like a good strategy at the time. However, most
people only build their relationships with others who they perceive to
have value at the moment of their first interaction.


Since most people only tend to judge on the surface, they often miss
what could be a key player in the goal they wish to reach. An investment
into how your connections serve you or your business needs to align with
your vision, mission, or purpose. Character and behavior will play an
important role in defining your service strategy. To do this keep asking,
“Who needs me?”


I’ll never forget walking into my first tech company. I was excited to
be part of an emerging and exciting industry. We were at the beginning
of something special, and back then, not many people understood how
large the industry would get.


It was the classic 1980s mainframe scene. In those times, people wore
business grey suits and the computers were large enough to fill a whole
building floor.
