Chapter 35: Deploying Access Applications to SharePoint

1169

The easiest way to create an Access form is to select a table or query in the Navigation Pane and
click the Form button in the Forms ribbon group. By default, Access creates a bound form in lay-
out view (see Figure 35.29). In general, the table format used by layout view is acceptable to most
users familiar with data displayed in a Web form, and layout view is a fast and easy way to produce
a Web form for the Access Services application. You can always go back and add a more elaborate
version of the form later.

A quick and easy Web form for the Access Services application

Note the following things about the environment in Figure 35.28. The text in the title bar of the
Access window identifies the application as an Access Services Database. This is a clear indication
that the application is no longer a standard Access application.

In the Navigation Pane, each table icon is marked with a globe, indicating that these tables are
Access Services tables in SharePoint. Opening these tables in Access is like opening any linked
table. The data appears exactly as it did before the publishing process. One difference, however, is
that — unlike other linked tables — the Access Services table’s design is fully editable in Access. In
fact, your only means of modifying the design of a table (or adding a new table) published to
Access Services is by making the change in the Access client.
