Part V: Access and Windows SharePoint Services
1170
You’ll recall from previously in this chapter that when users browse to the new SharePoint site cre-
ated by the publishing process, they see only the list of items exported to SharePoint. They do not
see a user interface, a switchboard, or a navigation aid, and nothing shows them where to start.
Microsoft addresses this issue with the new Navigation Web form. This is a simple templated form
that lets you quickly build a switchboard for your Web (or traditional) application. Start by select-
ing Navigation from the Forms group on the Create ribbon tab (see Figure 35.30). In Figure 35.30,
we’re selecting the Horizontal Tabs design, but you may need or prefer one of the other designs.
FIGURE 35.30
The Navigation form is a new feature in Access 2010.
When completed, this navigation form will display a number of tabs across the top of the form.
Clicking a tab reveals the form or report indicated by the caption of the selected tab. The naviga-
tion form is easy to build. Click a tab, type the tab’s caption, and then choose the tab’s form from
the drop-down list in the Navigation.TargetName property (see Figure 35.31).
