Talmud Project – David Small

David Small’s Talmud Project was produced at the MIT

media laboratory. It combines text passages from the Torah,

the fi rst fi ve books of the Hebrew Bible, and the Talmud,

a sacred book of the Jewish faith. The blocks of text can

be arranged interactively to shape walls through which the

reader can navigate. Different text connections can be made

according to the reader’s preference. The success of this

design solution relies on people’s real-life familiarity with

architectural environments.
