- Mark Twain said, “The secret of getting ahead is getting
started.” The secret of getting started is breaking your
complex, overwhelming tasks into small, manageable tasks,
and then starting on the first one.^1
- HARD WORK:
- All good leaders carry their own bags. They get up earlier,
stay later, work harder, give more and go farther than anyone
else. Leadership, they know, requires long days and sleepless
nights.^2
- “Success is a ladder that cannot be climbed with your hands in
your pockets” (American Proverb). The ladder of leadership
can’t either. It takes both hands and hard work.^3
- If you snooze – you lose. If you snore, you lose more.^4
- What are the traits of a hard-working leader?

- There is simply no substitute for hard work. Hard work will
make up for almost any other deficiency you might have.
There is no elevator to success in leadership. You must take the
stairs.^6
