I step over a small stone
wall, walk down the beach
and launch myself into the
water. It’s refreshing, but at
22 degrees only just, and the
taste of salt takes me by
surprise because it’s been a
while since I was in the sea.
There are a series of poles in
the water with green hats on
top that mark the end of the
groynes and serve as a
