physician. If and adult has constant diarrhea for more than three
days, or any rectal bleeding or weight loss, then a visit to the local
GP is recommended.

A truly good physician first finds out the cause of illness,
and having found that, he first tries to cure it by food. Only when
food fails does he prescribe medication.

Gas

Often the cause of much laughter, everyone passes wind from one
orifice or another at some time, and in some individuals this can
uncomfortable in some way. Gas is derived from either swallowing
air, fermentation caused in the small intestine or the action of
some bacteria in the bowel. This first type is usually relieved by
belching, whilst the other types cause flatulence.

Bouts of belching can be helped by chewing food properly,
eating slowly and by concentrating and relaxing at mealtimes. A
problem of flatulence is often caused by a larger problem, known
as Irritable Bower Syndrome. This must be treated by taking note
of lifestyle and general eating habits. Proper food coming,
reducing carbohydrate, sweet foods and any animal products to
negligible amounts is also a great help. For vegetarians, enjoy a
fresh yoghurt drink (Indian ‘lassi’) and a ginger tea at least thirty
minutes before a meal to help promote digestion an enjoy some
fresh chili with your meal.

A test of proper digestive powers and of healthy eating
habits is to observer how you feel after a meal. You should feel
energetic, light in body and capable of running if necessary. If you
feel heavy, sleepy or dull it indicated wither too fast consumption
of your food, a weakened digestive system or overeating. Visiting
a holistic doctor is also recommended as each individual is likely
to need different recommended priorities.
