Twenty-Two (1827)The Power of “the Devil” (Human Nature)
Because of what he was taught, Joseph gained an awareness of mortals being given
“dominion” over all the earth and everything in the earth.^25 He also understood the truth
that “the devil” (an enemy of God from the fall of Adam) is simply our human nature.^26 He
later used this knowledge to present the truth hidden in one of his many “revelations from
God.” In November of 1831, a short time (“nigh at hand”) before the “bottomless pit was
unlocked” (meaning that the time had arrived when industry and technology would begin
to increase and spread throughout the world), Joseph revealed a portion of the real truth:
For I am no respecter of persons, and will that all men shall know that the
day speedily cometh; the hour is not yet (not in 1831, but soon), but is nigh at
hand, when peace shall be taken from the earth, and the devil shall have
power over his own dominion.^27But having eyes that do not see and ears that do not hear, the LDS/Mormon people
do not understand their own scriptures. Does it mean that “the devil” did not have power
over his own dominion up until that point? Does it mean that there was peace upon the
earth before this time? No, it does not. It means this:
Our advanced human monitors love everyone upon the earth equally.^28 They
wanted everyone to understand that, for our own sake and learning—to see what happens
when we are permitted to exercise our human nature uninhibited—they were going to
release us to our own human natures (“the devil”) and allow us to take control and cause all
kinds of problems for ourselves (peace being taken from the earth).
The “Key” to Lock Up “the Devil”
When advanced humans allowed mortals, after 1831, to have the “key” to unlock the
“bottomless pit,” they simply allowed mortals the ability to obtain the knowledge to increase
their technological and scientific understanding and incorporate it into their existence. This
information and technology had been “locked” away from our ancestral past for thousands
of years, not allowing, for example, any one of us in a past mortality to figure out how to
utilize the atom about which Democritus had theorized.
When the advanced monitors finally come to our planet and reveal themselves, they
will have with them the same “key” they used to “unlock the bottomless pit” a short time
after November 1831. At that time, however, they will also have “a great chain” in their
hand. With it, they will lay “hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil” (the
natural man) and bind “him...and cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set
a seal upon him, that he [shall] deceive the nations no more.”^29
This “key” is their knowledge of real truth. When they come to our earth, they will use
their “key” (their knowledge of advanced techniques and technologies used throughout the
Universe in more advanced human societies) to “lock” up the foolishness and ineffectiveness
of our less-advanced technology. They will replace our technology with theirs, healing our
earth and helping us to establish peace and equality upon our own planet.
Joseph now understood all of these things. He understood that the purpose for
mortality was to let us see, firsthand, how our free will would almost always be used to our
