SCENE ANALYSIS
When I’m painting a cityscape on site,
the scene is almost always dynamic.
People are walking, cars are moving
and there’s a constant fl ow of activity.
Because of this, I don’t have station-
ary actors with which to work. I solve
this problem of moving fi gures by
developing my own fi gures and groups
of people and placing them where
I feel they belong (H).
Of course, stationary elements
are present in the cityscape, too—
buildings, awnings, trees, parked
