Antihuman Globulin Serum Immunohematology Review 459
TYPE DETECTS COMMENTS
Polyspecific (broad spectrum)
Monospecific
Anti-IgG
Anti-C3d or anti-C3b-C3d
Used for direct antiglobulin test (DAT). Some labs use for xmatch & ab
detection. If pos, monospecific sera used for follow-up testing. Advantage:
May detect complement-binding ab more readily. Disadvantage: Rxn
due to complement binding by clinically insignificant cold ab.
Can be used for routine compatibility tests & ab ID. Detects clinically
significant abs.
Helpful in investigation of immune hemolytic anemia.
