INSIGHT
my 3-year Fine Art Degree and chose
to major in Painting. My real love
is for drawings and I enjoyed that
this was a strong part of the course
with nine hours of drawing a week.
I found the course intensive but very
rewarding; I would not have the
set of skills I have today if I hadn’t
completed the course. My third and
final year was my most expressive,
where we were given the chance to
do one body of work throughout the
whole year in both our drawing classes
and our studio major combined. I
discovered artists who inspire my
works, not only aesthetically but also
conceptually, such as Cherry Hood,
Frank Frazetta, Sally Mann, Lucian
Freud, Louise Hearman and Jenny
Saville.
In my final year of the course, in
2011, I completed my most loved
body of work. Drawing from negative
experience and personal problems, I
created something I adore. There is
something beautiful and great about
having the power to express my
emotions and feeling on paper - to
conjure up ideas and have the ability

canvas with success.
