and working in counterclockwise
direction, sew a cream tone-on-tone
(^21) ⁄ 2 × 81 ⁄ 2 " rectangle, an F unit, a
G unit, and an H unit to a cream
center unit (Diagram 30).
- Join an I unit and a purple tone-
on-tone 4^1 ⁄ 2 × 141 ⁄ 2 " rectangle to
right-hand and top edges of Step 1
unit (Diagram 31). - Sew D and J units to left- and
right-hand edges of Step 2 unit
(Diagram 32). Add an L unit to
bottom edge to make Block 2.
The block should be 18^1 ⁄ 2 " square
including seam allowances. - Repeat steps 1–3 to make four
total of Block 2.
Assemble Block 3
- Beginning with top edge and
working in counterclockwise
direction, sew a purple tone-on-tone
21 ⁄ 2 × 81 ⁄ 2 " rectangle, an M unit, a
G unit, and an H unit to a cream
center unit (Diagram 33).
2. Join an N unit to left-hand edge
of Step 1 unit (Diagram 34).
3. Beginning with top edge and
working in counterclockwise
direction, sew a purple tone-on-
tone 4^1 ⁄ 2 × 141 ⁄ 2 " rectangle, a J unit,
a K unit, and an E unit to Step 2
unit to make Block 3 (Diagram 35).
The block should be 18^1 ⁄ 2 " square
including seam allowances.
4. Repeat steps 1–3 to make four
