Antiparasitic drug. Actionis similar to ivermectin.Acts as GABA agonist innervous system ofparasite. Used asheartworm preventative,miticide, andmicrofilaricide. Used tocontrol infections ofhookworm, roundworms,and whipworms. At highdoses, it has been used totreat

infections
in dogs.
In susceptible dogs (colliebreeds), milbemycin maycross the blood–brainbarrier and produce CNStoxicosis (depression,lethargy, coma). At dosesused for heartwormprevention, this effect isless likely.
