Oclacitinib (Apoquel)


Janus kinase inhibitor.Reduces pruritusassociated with allergicdermatitis in dogs.


Vomiting, diarrhea,increased risk ofdemodicosis, pneumonia,persistent infection.


Approved for dogs 1 yearof age and older.


3.6, 5.4, and 16 mgtablets.


0.4–0.6 mg/kg q24h po.


Omeprazole (Prilosec)

Proton pump inhibitor.Omeprazole inhibitsgastric acid secretion byinhibiting the K

+/H


+

pump. Omeprazole ismore potent and longeracting than most availableantisecretory drugs. Usedfor treatment andprevention of GI ulcers.

Side effects have not beenreported in animals.

Drug

interactions

: Do not

administer with drugs thatdepend on stomach acidfor absorption (e.g.,ketoconazole).

Due to omeprazole’spotency and accumulationin gastric cells, infrequentadministration is possible.

20 mg capsules andequine paste.

Dog: 20 mg/dog q24h po(or 0.7 mg/kg q24h).Cat: 0.5–0.7 mg/kg q24hpo.
