3.4 Effect of the Test
Compounds on
Bacterial Growth Rate

1. A single colony ofV. harveyiMM32 is picked from the LM
   plate prepared in Subheading3.2,step 1, and inoculated into
   2 mL of AB medium supplemented with 50μg/mL kanamycin
   and 10μg/mL chloramphenicol. The culture is grown for 16 h
   with aeration (175 rpm) at 30C.


2. The culture fromstep 1is diluted 100 fold in 198 mL of AB
   medium, in the absence and in the presence of the tested
   compounds at appropriate concentration, in a 250 mL conical
   flask, and incubated at 30C with aeration (175 rpm).


3. The OD 600 value is measured every 20 min with a spectropho-
   tometer. The doubling time is calculated according to the
   OD 600 value (Fig.6).
