TRY A DIVE Bouley Bay Dive Centre at the Water’s Edge Hotel
overlooks a magnifi cent north-coast bight with gin-clear water,
just right for trying a scuba dive. A highly experienced team will

VISITS ASHORE
VISIT JERSEY ZOO In 1959, Gerald Durrell established his 30-
acre wildlife park in the Jersey parish of Trinity. You can spend
a relaxing few hours wandering the zoo’s exotic woodlands and
lush valleys. Catch a number 3, 13 or 23 bus behind St Helier
Marina. Web: http://www.durrell.org/wildlife/visit.
CYCLE TO ST AUBIN Zebra bike hire is near the marinas at 9
Esplanade. Our favourite bike jaunt is west along the seafront
cycle path to picturesque St Aubin village, then lunch at one
of the harbourside bistros – Seafi sh Café is a sound choice.
Tel: +44 (0)1534 859230.
ELIZABETH CASTLE Steeped in history, this impressive fort just
off St Helier is linked to the Esplanade beach by a tidal causeway.
You can walk across to the castle around low springs or catch one
of the amphibious ferries. Web: http://www.jerseyheritage.org/places-to-
visit/elizabeth-castle.
LOW-TIDE WALKS Jersey’s 12m tidal range exposes vast low-
water seascapes. Near springs you can join guided seabed
walks, some out to navigation marks you normally pass by
boat! Contact Jersey Walk Adventures. Tel: +44 (0)7797 853033.

CRUISE AROUND THE ISLAND Pick a quiet day with
mid-morning HW and leave St Helier an hour before high to
catch slack tide in the Violet Passage around the south-east coast.
Then head north past Gorey Harbour and its romantic castle,
anchoring for lunch behind St Catherine’s breakwater. The
north coast has some spectacular bays and you can keep inside
the jagged Paternoster rocks before rounding Grosnez Point
and curving back south towards La Corbière lighthouse.
