PICS 18: Now we are ready to cut the lure free, because you lined up
the lure centrally at the start it is a simple case of marking a central
line along the length on the mold. Remove the lure stand and this will
leave you a recess with a small hole where the brass rod was.
PIC 19: Now for the tricky part, making sure you have a very sharp
knife you cut along the marking line starting from the centre and
working to the edges (shallow cuts are best here, and it is important
not to rush as you can easily ruin a mold at this stage). Once you
feel the blade touch the lure very, very slowly make the rest of the
cut. You want the cut to be as straight as possible and to run down
the middle of the back of the lure. This takes a bit of practice but an
accurate cut here will help with the seamless finish when casting
the resin blanks. Slowly and carefully work the lure free and your
mold is more or less ready to use.
PIC 20: You will now notice the reason for molding the hook hangers
in position as you will have small recesses which will perfectly hold
the hook hangers in position when casting your resin blanks.
