Kamasan B940S

Hooks
The Aberdeen hook is one of the most versatile patterns around and
though it is available in a wide variety of wire gauges and tempers, due
to most patterns having the traditionally long shank, in its smaller sizes
it is usually linked with worm baits while it its larger sizes, it is usually
linked with big baits, often mounted Pennell fashion.
The Kamasan B940 has been for sale in the UK for decades and is very
much a traditional Aberdeen pattern, though what set it aside when
it first came on the market was its strength despite being constructed
with medium gauge wire. Its long shank is perfect for worm and
cocktail baits but not so good for fish or crab.
The Kamasan B940s is a short shank version of the classic B940 and
while it has been around for a long time, it is often overlooked. The 940s
is however a true all-round hook. Available in sizes 4 – 4/0 and sharing
the B940’s finish, wire gauge, temper and chemically etched point,
the B940s can be used effectively for worm, fish and crab with equal
competence. There are other hooks that will excel more at each job, but
none is such great all-rounder.

QuickTide

a new tide time app
You work hard and play hard, so when you are by the sea you want to be
sure of the tide – QuickTide tells you the tide times fast. On the card’s disk,
you just align a colour and a code to display the approximate high- and
low-tide times for a particular day in 2018 or 2019 – the colour matches the
coast colour on the QuickTide map.
QuickTide cards are colourful, cover a wide area, predict two years, and
need no calculations – with traditional tide tables you add an hour for BST,
subtract say 2 hours 47 minutes for the coastal displacement, and convert
from the 24-hour clock.
Each QuickTide covers thousands of miles of coast. The Londoner plans
his weekend on the coast or the Thames. The East Anglian bird watcher,
metal detectorist or photographer allows for the big tidal differences along
the coast there. Leeds dinghy, windsurf and canoe enthusiasts choose the
east or west coast. The Devon windsurfer staying inland heads to the north
or south coast without buying separate tide tables. Bristol surfers agree
their weekend beach on the Gower or in Devon. The Scottish coastal walker
plans his hike on the Fife or Ayrshire coast. The fossil collector, diver, angler,
metal detectorist, kite buggy enthusiast and kite flyer choose locations with
suitable tides. For those who visit multiple parts of the coast, QuickTide’s
coverage of thousands of miles of coast is invaluable. The visitor to France,
Spain and Portugal has English-language tidal information.
QuickTide is available across the country from over 100 stockists,
particularly RSPB and WWT centres.
