PAST IT?
As the saying goes
you are wh at you
eat. What does that
mean then if we
eat food that has
passed its use-by
date? According to
a study conducted
byBBC Good
Food 42 per cent
of those quizzed
would eat poultry
and 39 per cent
would eat seafo od
that has passed its
use-by date. Many
of us treat these
dates more like
vague guidelines
in order to waste
less fo od. So is this
habit of ours frugal
or irresponsible?
According to the
NHS a use-by
date means that
foodmustbe
eatenby that time
wherea s a lot of
food is safe to
eat after its best-
befo re date wh ich
is differen t. In short
itâs betterto be
safe than sorry.
That funky-smelling
fish ju st isnât
worth the ri sk!
