The power and scalability of Symetrix SymNet
Radius 12x8 open architecture Dante-scalable
DSPs has made them an increasingly popular
choice for large-scale visitor att racti ons and
thus not surprisingly it was also employed at
Madame Tussauds.
Fully-featured DSP was always going to be
integral to the successful deployment of
such a complex system. Freddie Soh recalled,
“the initi al primary requirement of the DSP
installati on was for traditi onal analogue
audio distributi on based on earlier projects.
However, subsequent to that, E&E made the
recommendati on of a networkable audio
distributi on infrastructure underpinned
by Audinate’s Dante media networking
technology. We knew that it would really add
value to the project, and the client agreed to
go ahead with this proposal.”
As a long-ti me Symetrix system user – having
deployed its DSPs on such landmark projects
as the Singapore Sports Hub – the US-based
processing specialist was E&E's fi rst choice.
12 x mic/line inputs, eight line outputs and –
criti cally – support for Dante networking are
among the features of the SymNet Radius
12x8 open architecture Dante-scalable DSP,
two units of which were specifi ed for the
project. E&E also deployed four SymNet xIn
12 audio input expanders.
Regarding the Symetrix components, Koch
said: “The introducti on of Dante to this
project really sets the Museum up for the
long-term future, so the originally specifi ed
SymNet Radius 12x8s with the add on
fl exibility Dante off ers were a great choice.
The feedback from the completed installati on
has been excellent and the client is very
happy.”Hock Thang, regional sales manager, APAC

Singapore Sports Hub project illustrated

SymNet’s Dante networking capabiliti es. Now
they have done it again with this impressive
installati on at Madame Tussauds Singapore,
where the Symetrix DSPs have helped to
deliver a world-class audio infrastructure.”Freddie highlighted, “This is not a traditi onal
AV design – it is an Experience design. The
audio aspect was key to the success of the
visitors' experience. We had to ensure that
we had a reliable DSP processor that could
handle the complex routi ng and fi lteringprocess. As it has a Dante infrastructure, we
were able to provide a networkable design
and being within the digital realm, it allows to
transfer sound from anywhere to anywhere if
needed and should we require expandability
for the future, the system is scalable.”Freddie added, “Synchronising of the audio
for the various scenes especially where the
boat ride was concerned was criti cal. The
challenge was to ensure there is no lag and
this is where the Symetrix was criti cal as
it has no latency issue. Programming the
system though it was a litt le complex was
easy using the Symetrix Composer soft ware.
We are very familiar with Symetrix soluti ons
as we have installed them for a number of
our projects. We knew they would deliver
and we were proven right once again.”78
