‘Phenomenal’ Thai Live Production

he story of the Mahajanaka and its
central message that perseverance is
integral to achieving Buddhahood is
one of the most sacred texts in the Buddhist
religion. It has been told in many diff erent
ways over the centuries, but for a spectacular
recent live producti on in Thailand, the
country’s long-serving monarch, H. M.
King Bhumibol Adulyadej, called for an
interpretati on that would be easily intelligible
to contemporary audiences.

The result was a multi media spectacular
founded on the contributi on of Mr. Team
Producti ons and Fuzion Far East Limited.
Uti lising a variety of cutti ng-edge A/V
equipment, Mahajanaka the Phenomenon
Live Show helped to mark His Majesty’s 87th
birthday and was staged at the Queen Sirikit
Nati onal Conventi on Centre besides the Lake
of Benjakiti Park from December 1-20, with
200,000 people watching.

Free to att end, the hugely popular show
made use of six core audio brands – Symetrix
among them. A Symetrix SymNet Radius 12x8
open architecture Dante-scalable DSP and
single SymNet xOut 12 expander delivered
robust, reliable processing throughout each
and every performance of the 75-minute
show.

For Mr. Team Producti ons, Pok Sutat Kohkiat
explained that the company has been using
Symetrix products consistently since 2001
and had no doubt that one of its favourite
models from the range – the SymNet Radius

DSP – would again prove the match for the

demands of this high-profi le producti on.

Alongside the Symetrix DSP, the other

fundamental parts of the Mahajanaka the

Phenomenon Live Show audio specifi cati on

included DiGiCo digital mixing consoles, a

NEXO loudspeaker system, Camco amplifi ers,

Sennheiser in-ear monitors and wireless

microphones, and Genelec monitors.

Public reacti on was reportedly enthusiasti c

to a producti on that delivered a very special

treat for its December 20th performance

• a special jazz set featuring world class
  musicians such as guitarist Larry Carlton,
  vocalist/pianist Diane Schuur and guitarist/
  singer John Pizzarelli. For this performance,
  a separate FOH and monitoring system
  featuring 2 x DiGiCo SD8 consoles and 24 x
  NEXO PS 15 speakers was draft ed in before
  the stage was reset for Mahajanaka the
  Phenomenon Live Show.
