teachings, plotted my lunar cycle, learned
about my virgin, my mother, my enchantress
and my crone, but most profoundly, I
learned to stay in my own circle. In the
circle, I found my own space again. I quietly
gathered strength.
Parental challenges
As parents, we often get caught up in family
dynamics, agendas and stories. Sometimes,
this can even take us to the point of
disconnection from ourselves. Dreams can
change into vague out of reach ideals and
relationships can be affected too. The line
between us and them – adults and children
- gets blurred and chaos can become the
norm. The thought of stepping back might
feel out of alignment with what is needed,
and yet, it is necessary and important to
do so.
Now imagine a circle, personalise it, add
a colour, a fluffy mat, make it familiar, and
step into it. Step into your circle. And stay
there until calmness comes. And it shall.
It’s your circle, and you took the courage
to step into it. In your circle, you are not
saving anyone and no one is saving you.
In your circle, you and your infinite wisdom
are alone. It may be quiet, or it may find you
dancing wildly and unashamedly to loud Led
Zeppelin. It’s your circle; you make the rules.
In your circle, you will heal and find balance.
Magic happens
There is magic happening when you step
into your circle, but the coolest thing that
happens when you step out again, is that the
calmness comes with you.
In fact, you will find that it was there
before you arrived.
The alchemy of the sacred hoop is
surprising and exciting; and the best thing of
all is that it is yours. I invite you to play with
the circles, explore their sacredness, honour
yourself in their space, and watch your
families transform in theirs.
Claim your sacredness back, and the
balance you gain will positively affect your
family, healing the sacred hoop of your
own people.
