3.4.2.1 NEAM Disciplines


In the subsection, we divide the full sample 211Us into 985Us and non-985Us, and


compare their differences in each indicator. The calculations are presented in


Table3.29.


It can be seen from Table3.29that: (1) On the indicator of either SCI per capita


or SCI per¥10 million, there is a big gap between 985U and non-985Us, but the


growing trend is more obvious in non-985Us. (2) On the indicator of TOPESI per


¥10 million, both 985Us and non-985Us are in the downtrend, which means that


both types of universities should improve their research efficiency and make better


use of research money.


In order to illustrate more visually the gaps their changes on research output per


unit input of NEAM disciplines between 985Us and non-985Us, we plot the yearly


averages of each indicator in bar chart. See Figs.3.63,3.64and3.65.
