(WallPaper) #1

It can be seen from Fig.3.63, I the average of SCI per capita of 985Us is larger

than that of non-985Us, and the difference is enlarged from 0.26 in 2006 to 0.3 in

It can be seen from Fig.3.64that, on the indicator of SCI per¥10 million, the
differences between 985Us and non-985Us are not obvious, and in some particular

years like 2007 and 2009, the non-985Us even slightly outperform the 985Us.

Given the data in the previous sections, we canfind the average of R&D grants of

985Us for thefive years is 6.183 million, which is almost four times higher than

that of non-985Us (afive-year average at 1.648 million). Meanwhile, thefive-year

average of SCI articles of 985Us and non-985Us are 1058.42 and 215.13 respec-

tively, and the ratio is also around 4. Therefore, 985Us and non-985Us are almost

equal on the indicator of SCI per¥10 million.

It can be seen from Fig.3.65, the average of TOPESI per¥10 million of 985Us

is much larger than that of non-985Us, and the gap approaches its minimum in

3.4.2.2 HSS Disciplines

In order to examine the gaps on HSS research outputs of 211Us, we calculate the

yearly average of each research output of 985Us and non-985Us separately. See

Table3.30for details.

It can be seen from Table3.30that, (1) on the indicator of SSCI per capita, both

985Us and non-985Us first increase then decrease. (2) On the indicators of

Monographs per capita and Monographs per¥10 million, both types of 211Us are

decreasing all along. (3) On the indicator of SSCI per¥10 million, 985Us and
non-985 s have different performances—the former is declining all thesefive years,

while non-985Us isfluctuant.

In order to illustrate more visually the trend of HSS research inputs in 985Us and

non-985Us, we plot the yearly average of each indicator in bar chart below, from

Figs.3.66,3.67,3.68and3.69.

It can be seen from Fig.3.66that, the average of SSCI per capita of 985Us is

larger than that of non-985Us, with the difference approaching its peak value of 0.1

in 2009.
