D

ogs belong to Animalia Kingdom,
Mammalia Class, Canidae family.

New born puppies have heat
sensors in their noses to help find
their moms while their eyes and ears are
closed. Pups are blind, deaf and toothless
when born.

Dogs drink water by making the back of
their tongue into a mini cup.

Dogs are omnivores. They eat meat,
grains and vegetables.

Just like human fingerprints, no two dogs’
nose prints are alike.

Dogs see colours, though not as bright as
we do. They can see blue, greenish-yellow,
yellow and various shades of grey.

The Shar-pei and the Chow Chow have
black tongues.

Poodles were given haircuts to improve
their swiming ability. The pompoms were
left to keep their joints warm.

The Newfoundland breed has webbed feet
and a water resistant coat. The dogs were
earlier used to help fishermen haul nets
and for rescuing people in water.

Dalmatians are born snow white. The
spots develop as they grow older.

If never spayed or neutered, a female dog,
her mate, and their puppies could produce
over 66,000 dogs in 6 years!
