“There are quite a few French
speakers at Fulham and that
helps. Also, London is similar to
Paris. I don’t really go out much,
though. I tend to go home after
training and spend time with my
family - I have a young daughter
- or watch television. When I
do go out, it’s to restaurants or
shopping.”
We speak to Neeskens -
named by his father after Dutch
international Johan Neeskens
- on the phone at his Fulham
home the day after the Ipswich
game. After telling his new
Amazon Echo to be quiet, he
admits he’s looking forward
to the challenge of facing
top-flight Southampton at the
Cottage this afternoon.
“We’ll do our best to defeat
them,” says the 25-year-old DR
Congo international. “I know
that won’t be easy but we
think we can beat them if we
approach the game the right
way. They’re struggling in the
league right now so the game
might not be their top priority
and it could it be a good time to
be playing them.”
The FA Cup is often described
as one of the most famous
competitions in the world and,
while league success is Fulham’s
main aim this term, a little cup
run wouldn’t do us any harm.
