and film events coming to NYU Abu Dhabi.

Emotional
journeys
THERE’S ALWAYS SOMETHING cool going on at
The Arts Center at NYU Abu Dhabi, and April’s
schedule has been particularly brilliant.
But there are even more great things to
come, with three amazing events all packed
into the last few days of the month.
On April 28, contemporary dance piece
Vitae is coming to The Black Box theatre.
This engaging dance performance has
been choreographed by NYUAD theatre and
economics student Kevin Ke, and his debut
work tells the story of an aspiring artist.
Performed by ten dancers, the show is split
into three chapters.
The Àrst explores beginnings and endings,
the next takes the audience on a journey of
birth and exploration, and the Ànal chapter
sees everything descend into chaos.
In fact, it’s a huge couple of days for anyone
who appreciates dance.
On April 29, you can catch the French
hip-hop dance show Danser Casa in The
Red Theater.
Full of infectious energy and stirring
music, it transports the audience over to the
Moroccan city of Casablanca and depicts the
burning desires of the young dancers who
live there.
Choreographed by Mourad Merzouki and
Kader Attou (both pioneers of Casablanca’s
vibrant dance scene) the piece covers a whole
range emotions.
At times the tension in the air is almost
overwhelming, while at the same time an
intense love runs through the plot.
This is street dancing in its purest form, and
it will quite simply take your breath away.
You’ll be on the edge of your seat as you
watch the story unfold, and marvel at the
skills of these talented dancers.
