INTRODUCING
LINE-X ULTRA
Developed in-house at
LINE-X’s state-of-the art R&D
facility in engineering central
Huntsville Alabama, LINE-X
Ultra is a thin build, aliphatic,
polyurea with all the same
qualities as the traditional tub
liner product. What does that
mean? Good question. Thin
build is exactly what it means.
Traditional polyurea is
sprayed at a nominal
thickness of 2mm, up to and
beyond 5mm in heavy
industrial applications.
LINE-X Ultra is applied from
0.1mm to a maximum
thickness of 0.5mm. This
makes it perfect to use when
there are tight tolerances
involved or intricate detail
that needs to be retained.
Traditional LINE-X coatings
are renowned for their unique
aggressive texture. Ultra
offers a texture finish,
although much finer which
gives it more of a sheen finish.
What is most remarkable
about this is that while it is
super thin, performance of the
product has not been
compromised. LINE-X Ultra
out performs all other
traditional industrial coatings
of similar thickness hands
down. Where paint and powder
coat failed very early in testing,
LINE-X Ultra has survived to
the point where the R&D lab
has run out of ways to test the
product, so how will this
coating stand up to a 12 month
run on Graham’s Isuzu DMA X?
THE DESIGN
Kenny Pfi tzer from Zero to 60
designs (Formerly of West
Coast Customs) sent us a bunch
of designs, with everything
from mild to wild. From a
simple two-tone with some pin
striping, to a complete full
SEMA type graphics we were
spoilt for choice. In the end we
couldn’t look past the tough
black on black look, with a
splash of yellow to give it some
pop. LINE-X XS-350 (the
compound used in their top of
the range tub liners) will be
used to protect the high impact
areas of the vehicle, which is
the bar work, door sills and
fl ares. The new LINE-X Ultra
will cover the rest.
