FLORAL

BOUQUET

PART 5

5

Use an erasable fabric-marking
pen to trace each of the flowers/
leaves from the Pattern Sheet on
to Fabric AA leaving at least 1in

OUR FABRICS
This quilt uses a large variety of
print and solid fabrics selected
by Sarah and Rachel from the
Tilda ‘LemonTree’, ‘Devonstone’
and Robert Kaufman ‘Essex Yarn
Dyed’ ranges, distributed in
Australia by Two Green Zebras.

BACKGROUND

1

From each of Fabrics B, C, D, F, H,
I, K, L and N, cut:

  • One square, 6^11 ⁄ 2 in.

2

Lay the squares out in three
rows of three. When you have
an array of colours and prints that
you like, sew the squares in each
row together, then sew the rows
together, carefully matching the
seams. Your background should
measure 18^1 ⁄ 2 in square from raw
edge to raw edge.

VASE AND FLOWERS

3

Trace the vase shape from the
Pattern Sheet onto template
plastic using a fine-point permanent-
marking pen. Cut it out on the traced
line. Trace around it on the wrong side
Fabric Y. Cut the shape out of fabric

(^1) ⁄ 4 in by eye outside the traced lines.
4
Use appliqué glue to position the
vase on the background fabric. Its
bottom edge should be about 2^1 ⁄ 2 in up
from the bottom edge of the background
after it has been appliquéd. Needleturn
appliqué it in place.
This Block of the Month project is being
published over 10 issues of Homespun,
from February to November 2018. The
materials required to make the complete
