ASSEMBLY
Use the wool needle to weave in all
the ends neatly on one side of each
oval – this will be the wrong side. Pin
out the shapes evenly, face down on
the ironing board, and spray them
lightly with water. Leave them to dry
to block the shapes.
From the solid homespun fabric, cut:

  • Two oval shapes 6mm (^11 ⁄ 4 in) larger all
round than the crocheted ovals. To do
this, fold the fabric in half and place
the crocheted oval on top. Cut
carefully^1 ⁄ 4 in by eye outside the shape.
    From the fusible interfacing, cut:

  • Two oval shapes 6mm (^1 ⁄ 4 in) smaller
all round than the crocheted ovals. To
do this, fold the interfacing in half and
trace the shape of the crocheted oval
on it. Remove the crocheted shape,
then cut^1 ⁄ 4 in by eye inside the line.
    Centre the interfacing shapes on
the wrong side of the fabric ones

with the glue side facing up. Pin
them together away from the edges.
Very carefully use the tip of the iron
to press the fabric seam allowance
over onto the interfacing, taking care
not to get adhesive on the iron.
Centre the prepared lining shapes
on the wrong side of the crocheted
ovals, interfacing side down, and
fuse the layers together gently. Use
matching machine-sewing thread
to slipstitch the edge of the lining
shapes to the crocheted ovals.
With the lining sides together,
match the two ovals and stitch them
together invisibly between the outer
two rounds of crochet using one of
the yarns and the wool needle. Begin
sewing at the top of one long side
just below the curve and finish in the
corresponding place on the opposite
side, leaving one rounded end open,
as shown in the photograph, to
insert your glasses.
Now your glasses will be nicely
protected and easy to find in their
bright new case!
