Use your thumb to gently coax the fabric over the
ring, then use your fingers to tuck the fabric into the
gap between the styrene and the ring. Any glue that
squeezes out on to the styrene must be removed quickly.
Shannan says that it’s easy to do this: just run a finger along
the edge of the styrene, balling up the glue before it’s dried.

Where the spokes meet the ring, snip in from the
edge of the fabric by about^33 ⁄ 8 in and apply Fray
Check to the cut edges. Allow them to dry thoroughly.

Use a clean fl at surface to push the lining down
behind the ring. Shannan split one of her wooden
pegs and used its thin end to do this. A thin ruler would
also work. Don’t use anything that has sharp edges, as
you don’t want to tear the fabric or mark the styrene.
Continue like this, gradually working your way around
the fabric in each direction.

Glue the fabric to the taped ring. Start in the centre
of the stitched design. Apply glue along 2-3in on
the outer surface of the ring and then along the matching
length on the edge of the fabric. Reposition the pegs if
necessary to allow you to work unimpeded.
