Press a ruler along the length of the overlap and
peg it in place until the glue has dried thoroughly.
Run a fi nger up and down the inside of the shade behind
the overlap area to ensure a good hold between the
overlapping layers.

To finish, glue the last^11 ⁄ 2 in of the right edge of the
design – the raw edge that you trimmed just inside the
styrene – and push it in place on both the rings. Then glue the
turned-under edge on the left edge of the design and adhere
it to the rings, overlapping the raw edge of the fabric.

Lay the shade on its side while you complete the
gluing of the overlap. Carefully lift the edge of the
fabric up the length of the shade and add a narrow line of
glue along the fabric. You don’t want to use too much glue,
as it will squeeze out and mark the fabric on the shade.

Leave the last^1 ⁄ 2 in or so of fabric at the left and right
edges of the design unglued, but ensure that the left
edge of the design, with the turned-under edge, is on the
outer so that it will overlap the raw edge on the right edge
of the design. Turn the shade around, and repeat Steps 16-
19 to attach the top edge of the shade to the plain ring.
