VENDORS WERE KEPT
BUSY BY THE SHOW’S
6000-PLUS PEOPLE
Left: A few years ago —
probably a few more
than our author cares
to remember — we
used to see these Mk3
Zephyrs everywhere
but not today. This
beautiful example of
1964 vintage is owned
by Robbie McKay.

Vintage machinery gave people a look back to
yesteryear, while more than 30 stalls and 15 food
vendors were kept very busy, with some even
running out due to the 6000-plus people through
the gates.
Aside from the hundreds of great cars on display
on the main field, there were several motorbikes,
sponsor vehicles, and around 30 trucks to look at.
Around midday, an auction was held, with several
great items put under the hammer, including a
signed All Blacks jersey and $1K’ worth of tyres.
Live music kept people entertained through the
day, thanks to the awesome tunes of Shed 24 and
Lee Martin.
Right: This is one
of two 1988 Purvis
Eurekas made in
Blenheim, with the
other a permanent
resident of the
Southward Car
Museum. The
Eureka was based
on the British Nova
kit car design of
1971, utilizing a
VW Beetle chassis,
a fibreglass body,
and an air-cooled
VW flat-four
