01: DESIGN CLIFFTOP HOUSE
LOCATION HILLSBOROUGH
With their house set up in the treetops, the
Divetts wanted a kitchen that could do justice to
the view. Opting for a local company — though
this did delay the process — homeowners
Hamish and Diane set about building their
dream kitchen. With plenty of natural light
pouring into the space, glossy charcoal acrylic
cabinetry was chosen, off set by a rougher
textured kitchen island with a benchtop of pure
white Dekton. “It’s a sintered material made
of rock that has been ground into a slurry and
then coloured, dried and fused under massive
pressure and heat,” explains Hamish about their
unusual benchtop. As a family that loves to
entertain, the Divetts are well pleased with
their bespoke kitchen.

02: DESIGN LAVA TIVOLI TERRACE
LOCATION PADDINGTON, SYDNEY
A standout feature of this terrace home in
Sydney is the kitchen. Custom designed to meet
the specifi c desires of the architect/homeowner,
the kitchen island is literally shaped like an
island. The traditional stepped geometry of the
typical kitchen was abandoned in favour of a
seamless and streamlined aesthetic. “What I
hate in kitchens is that you have four diff erent
geometries happening: fridge, rangehood,
benchtop and cupboards — everything has
a diff erent height and depth,” says architect
and homeowner Chriss Bosse. “We made it all
one depth in elevation — an L-shaped bench
and fridge/pantry and a fl oating cupboard.”
A unique light, designed by Chris himself, of
laser-cut plywood ribs made to look like a
cloud fl oats above the island.
