08: DESIGN WESTSIDE CONNECTION
LOCATION STUDIO CITY, LOS ANGELES
Refl ecting a glamour that never seems to go out
of style, this fashionable living room sings Palm
Springs sophistication. A base of neutral tones
and natural textures forms the foundation of
the space, with bold accents in tactile teal and
touches of gold metallic elements added for
glamour. Set before fl oor-to-ceiling windows,
the surrounding landscape becomes a part
of the room, brought in along with streaming
natural light to create an open and airy
feeling that ensures comfort and relaxation.
Quintessentially Californian, a fresh tropical
vibe is achieved through the use of palm
trees and cacti to make the home feel “cosy
and inviting, but also in alignment with the
grandiose, airy feeling of the original home”,
claims interior designer Orlando Soria.

09: DESIGN RICHMOND HOUSE
LOCATION RICHMOND, MELBOURNE
Set beneath the stairs and fed light by a double-
height void, this multi-use living space provides
the family with a fl exible area for relaxing and
working. Large-scale windows sit at ground
level and are angled to match the roofl ine,
providing views to the outdoor space and
helping to keep the room bright with natural
light. A minimalist aesthetic opens up the area
and makes it feel spacious. Cleverly concealed
cabinetry provides convenient storage and a
desk nook turns the room into a home offi ce.
Such fl exibility allows the family to undertake
a variety of individual tasks while sharing the
communal living space.
