W I T’S FULL
OF STARS
Susan Pillifeant
Susan created
this star trail from
images taken at a
rural airfield about
an hour’s drive
from Brisbane.
She used a Canon
EOS 6D to make a
200-image time-
lapse — comprising
20-second images
with 10 second gaps
— then ran the
images through a star
trails program.

S DUMBBELL DELIGHT Giritharan The beautiful Dumbbell Nebula (Messier 27, NGC 6853) is about
1,360 light-years from us. Giritharan, a member of the Wollongong Amateur Astronomy Club, took this shot
from the dark skies of the Jerrawangala National Park on the NSW south coast. He used an unmodded
Canon EOS 6D full-
frame camera and
a 110-mm f/7 Orion
doublet refractor.
