G’day lads,
Caught the last season of your show and have been keeping an
eye out for season six.
Just reaching out as I’ve got a couple of months scheduled
time off between jobs at the end of the year and have been
prepping for a big trip with the missus.
We’re travelling in my 120 Series Prado and towing a CUB
camper trailer. Hoping to pull off some semblance of a lap of
the country, but have a time limit of eight weeks from the rst
week of October.
What are your recommendations for time of year and working
with our time limitations? We’re leaving from Canberra and
need to be back in town by the end of November.

What an awesome position to be in, planning a big trip with
your better half! Remember to enjoy the planning, as it can he
half the fun.
Travelling during the warmer months you’ll likely be spending
more time in the southern half of the country, although off
season Top End trips can be unbelievable and uncrowded.
Working on a limited time budget, you’re best to compile a
list of each of your must-see spots and factor in enough time
so no one’s disappointed. Keep an open mind and be ready to
adjust plans on the y if circumstances change.
Make sure you grab a copy of next month’s issue, as it’s
completely dedicated to planning a big lap of the country.
There’s plenty of detail on a few different ways of doing a lap,
as well as inspiration from some of the more forgotten corners
of the continent.
I’m sure we’ll criss-cross paths somewhere if you’re on the left
side of the country in the second half of the year.

Blake Dalton was narrowly edged out as runner up this month.
He picked up his tough GU ute off his local mechanic ve years
ago and after freshening up the diffs, transfer case and motor, he’s
rebuilt her from the ground up in the ensuing years.
A thorough rust repair was the rst order of business before a
schmick new paint job could be applied and a custom tray tted.
Eventually the trayback was swapped out for a custom built tub,
which he fabricated from a wagon body.
The big GU is now riding high on a four-inch suspension lift
and is sporting a set of 35s, custom built rooftop mount and dog
cage. It’s always inspiring to see a bit of creativity going into such
