nternational Location Systems (ILS) has
launched the Roamio Active GPS dash cam,
and its end-to-end cloud-based portal, to
assist commercial vehicle drivers with on-road
incidents.
According to the company, the Roamio features
Full HD recording, real-time GPS tracking and a
built-in backup battery.
The dashboard camera operates in moments,
storing video files when its integrated advanced
shock sensor notices unusual activity.
If triggered, the camera automatically saves a
Full HD video recording of the previous period of
time to the on-board SD card and renames it to
avoid being overwritten.
When it comes to playing back the footage, the
Roamio has accompanying software that displays
the video; incident time and date information; its
location through Google Maps; and speed and
direction data.
The dashboard camera features real-time GPS
tracking thanks to a 3G mobile phone module,
allowing customers to also see the vehicle’s
location via a web portal or mobile application in
60-second increments.
Through the portal, customers can see reports
of speeding, which can be user defined, and
access full trip history.
ILS director Mario Veronese says orders for the
Roamio, which are sold with a connected 3G SIM
card, are currently underway in Australia, with
the pricing model in two parts.
“The plan covers the cost of the SIM and
associated data plan which keeps the unit online
and allows it to update its location 1,440 times
per day, seven days per week,” he says.
Veronese says he does not envisage enforcing
a service plan, rather customers will be able to
purchase blocks of connection time.
“If they don’t want to continue with the
connection and the real-time GPS tracking, the
unit will continue to function as a high-end dash
cam with all the usual features,” he says.

ovatt Transport has been presented with
the 100,000th Hino truck sold in Australia at
Lovatt’s new facility in Botany, NSW.
Hino Australia CEO and Chairman Steve Lotter
also presented the Sydney-based transport
company with a commemorative plaque to mark
the milestone event.
The 100,000th Hino sold joins a fleet of 22 Hino
700 Series SS 2848 Proshifts already in the Lovatt
stables, with more to be added to the constantly
growing fleet.
“We are very pleased that the 100,000th Hino
sold in Australia has been purchased by a
longstanding business partner,” Lotter says.
Lovatt Transport was established in 1979, and its
managing director Bill Lovatt says the Hino fleet
makes for an economical and reliable business.
“Our Hino experience started in 2006 with two
700 Series prime movers, and after a year on the
road with them we saw substantial cuts to fuel
costs and service bills compared with a similar
truck from a different brand,” Lovatt says.
“Drivers love the trucks as they offer great vision
and a smooth ride, and at the end of the day they
alight from the truck without feeling fatigued.
“The 700 Series trucks are very reliable, and
we’ve been able to cut out a lot of downtime and
keep the fleet on the road to better serve our
customers,” he says.
The 100,000th truck was purchased from
Adtrans Hino Mascot, and delivered by Adtrans
Hino Dealer Principal Jeff Morgan.
Lovatt Transport is ranked number one out of all
large carriers by the Sydney Ports Corporation for
its operational performance.
