nternational Location Systems (ILS) haslaunched the Roamio Active GPS dash cam,and its end-to-end cloud-based portal, toassist commercial vehicle drivers with on-roadincidents.According to the company, the Roamio featuresFull HD recording, real-time GPS tracking and abuilt-in backup battery.The dashboard camera operates in moments,storing video files when its integrated advancedshock sensor notices unusual activity.If triggered, the camera automatically saves aFull HD video recording of the previous period oftime to the on-board SD card and renames it toavoid being overwritten.When it comes to playing back the footage, theRoamio has accompanying software that displaysthe video; incident time and date information; itslocation through Google Maps; and speed anddirection data.The dashboard camera features real-time GPStracking thanks to a 3G mobile phone module,allowing customers to also see the vehicle’slocation via a web portal or mobile application in60-second increments.Through the portal, customers can see reportsof speeding, which can be user defined, andaccess full trip history.ILS director Mario Veronese says orders for theRoamio, which are sold with a connected 3G SIMcard, are currently underway in Australia, withthe pricing model in two parts.“The plan covers the cost of the SIM andassociated data plan which keeps the unit onlineand allows it to update its location 1,440 timesper day, seven days per week,” he says.Veronese says he does not envisage enforcinga service plan, rather customers will be able topurchase blocks of connection time.“If they don’t want to continue with theconnection and the real-time GPS tracking, theunit will continue to function as a high-end dashcam with all the usual features,” he says.L
ovatt Transport has been presented withthe 100,000th Hino truck sold in Australia atLovatt’s new facility in Botany, NSW.Hino Australia CEO and Chairman Steve Lotteralso presented the Sydney-based transportcompany with a commemorative plaque to markthe milestone event.The 100,000th Hino sold joins a fleet of 22 Hino700 Series SS 2848 Proshifts already in the Lovattstables, with more to be added to the constantlygrowing fleet.“We are very pleased that the 100,000th Hinosold in Australia has been purchased by alongstanding business partner,” Lotter says.Lovatt Transport was established in 1979, and itsmanaging director Bill Lovatt says the Hino fleetmakes for an economical and reliable business.“Our Hino experience started in 2006 with two700 Series prime movers, and after a year on theroad with them we saw substantial cuts to fuelcosts and service bills compared with a similartruck from a different brand,” Lovatt says.“Drivers love the trucks as they offer great visionand a smooth ride, and at the end of the day theyalight from the truck without feeling fatigued.“The 700 Series trucks are very reliable, andwe’ve been able to cut out a lot of downtime andkeep the fleet on the road to better serve ourcustomers,” he says.The 100,000th truck was purchased fromAdtrans Hino Mascot, and delivered by AdtransHino Dealer Principal Jeff Morgan.Lovatt Transport is ranked number one out of alllarge carriers by the Sydney Ports Corporation forits operational performance.Lovin’
